Plastic cards

Tieto is a leading supplier of plastic cards and RFID tags to the Nordic market. Our most important customers include banks, businesses, public authorities, transport companies and hotel chains.

Cards and tags are supplied to the customer’s requirements for colour printing, technology, lifespan and environmental standards.

We supply the following types of cards and tags:

• White plastic cards
• Cards with colour printing or a custom design
• MIFARE cards and other RFID cards
• RFID key fobs and wristbands

Tieto is your partner for designing cards, working from simple sketches or complete print-ready files. This covers card types such as payment cards, membership cards, gift cards and ID and access cards. The design is printed on the cards by one of our suppliers.

MIFARE is the most widely used RFID technology in the world and is often used for payment, transport, ticketing and access control. With RFID, the card can be read via radio waves without physical contact with the card reader.

Tieto supplies all types of MIFARE cards in accordance with ISO 14443:

• MIFARE Ultralight
• MIFARE Classic
• MIFARE DESFire
• MIFARE Plus
• MIFARE SmartMX

The cards can be printed and encoded to the customer’s requirements, and several RFID technologies can be combined in the same card. In addition to MIFARE, Tieto supplies other RFID cards, for example:

• EM 4102, 4450/4550
• HID iCLASS
• HID Prox
• Hitag

RFID wristbands with contactless technology have many uses and can be supplied in a range of designs and materials to suit the customer’s wishes and needs. The wristbands can be supplied with single-colour printing or with the customer’s own design. Some examples of uses for RFID wristbands:

• Public transport tickets
• Access to swimming pools and gyms
• Keys for access control
• RFID festival passes

Key fobs are practical where a plastic card is not required to enter a building. The fobs are available in various shapes and colours and can be supplied pre-encoded for use in access control systems. The RFID technologies available in key fobs and wristbands are the same as in the cards.
